General Tour - All Scout Levels

Scouts will tour the Morton House Museum and discover the local history and life
in the United States during the Victorian era.

Maximum: 20 Scouts, Tour Length: 1 hour
Fee: $2.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones).

American Heritage Merit Badge Tours

In addition to the general tour, the American Heritage Merit Badge tour will fulfill three of the five requirements to complete the badge: 4A, 4B and 4C. The Morton House Museum is listed on the Michigan Register of Historic Places.

Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 1.5 hours.
Fee: $3.00 per scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)

Citizenship in the Community

In addition to the general tour, Merit Badge Counselors are encouraged to call the Morton House Museum to arrange for special content on citizenship in the community. Let the Morton House Museum staff help meet the requirements of Section 4 A-E and 7 of the Eagle Scout badge The tour will be conducted by volunteer docents

Daisies - Enter the Past
Enter the past - learn about how people used to live in the Morton House, tour the house, and play with simple old-fashioned toys.

Maximum: 20 Daisies; Tour Length: 1 hour
Fee: $2.00 per Daisy (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)

Listening to the Past - Brownies
Brownies will listen to the stories of some of the oldest people in the community; tour the Morton House Museum and learn an interesting fact; visit the Morton Hill Cemetery and take photographs, make rubbings or draw pictures of unusual gravestones;or play games of the past (Kick the can, crack the whip, horseshoes or hoop and stick).

Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 1 hour
Fee: $2.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)

Local Lore Tour - Junior Scouts
In addition to the General Tour, Scouts will explore different architectural styles of the Victorian era, compare past and present maps of Benton Harbor and create their own Victorian era newspapers. The tour and activities will fulfill activity numbers 1-5,7 and 10 in the Junior Scout Manual.=

My Heritage - Junior Scouts
Begin learning about your heritage at the Morton House Museum. Learn what is in a name; Find out about the people and accomplishments of early Benton Harbor residents; find a way to celebrate your heritage; Learn something one of your ancestors might have enjoyed.

Maximum: 20 Scots; Tour Length 1 hour.
Fee:  $2.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones).

Heritage Hunt Tour - Cadette and Senior Scouts
Scouts will examine the Morton family and its connections to many of the prominent era families of the 1860's, compare life in the Victorian era to the present, and explore museum careers. Included is a General Tour of the Morton House Museum. This tour fulfills Sky Builders 1,4 and 5; Technology 3 and 4; and Career Exploration of the Heritage Hunt Interest Project.

Maximum:  20 Scouts; Tour Length: 1.5 hours
Fee: $3.00 per Scout (Free of Leaders Chaperones.
