Here are a few events we have planned for 2011:
| |
Queens' Tea - the Blossomtime queens and kings visit the Morton House each year in the week before the parade (May 7, 2011) for tea and a bit of information about Benton Harbor history.
| |
Ghost Hunting at the Morton House - after the fireworks on Sunday, July 3, we invite folks to join us at midnight for some nocturnal doings at the Morton House with a ghosthunter. This is a fund-raiser for the Morton House - details to follow.
| |
Antiques Appraisal - Sunday, Aug. 21. We'll have certified appraisers on hand to give you an informal appraisal of your valuables for a small fee. Dig around in your attic and see if you have some treasures to offer.
| |
Crystal Springs Cemetery History Tour - Saturday, Sept. 17. Join us at the most beautiful cemetery in Benton Harbor and learn some history about some of the folks buried there. This is a fundraiser for the Morton House, details to follow.
| |
Holiday open house - Saturday, Nov. 19; Sunday, Nov. 20; and Saturday, Nov. 26. Click on the "2011 Holiday Event" tab for details.
| |
We'll also have a speaker series once a month from June-September; a ghost storyteller in October; and workshops on geneology, selling your antiques, and publishing your history. Watch for those dates in the near future.
| |
Our annual "Morton House Museum Preservation Awards" will take place in June and we'll also issue our annual "most-endangered" list.
| |
We're going to be a busy place this year as we work towards our mission of becoming "The Home of Benton Harbor History" - hope you can join us often.
